Chupacabras 100km : Far removed from the Arizona racing scene resides the Chupacabras 100km in Juarez, MX. Widely considered one of the most important sporting events in Mexico and most certainly in Juarez, it draws thousands of competitors and spectators from both sides of the border. The enthusiasm of the crowds and fellow racers is amazing and makes for a completely different racing experience from what is typical of the US. The course combines a blazing fast flat segment along the Rio Grande then up through the shanti towns of Juarez and finally on to some incredible singletrack through the the mountains. Massive crowds surround the course even in the most remote areas and lend an almost 'touresque' feel to the entire event. I'll be back next year for sure. Zack

Durango 100 #$!&^*(@!!!! : An interesting thing happens when you put two nut jobs together...they encourage eachother to do things reserved for nut jobs. It would seem as if Zack and Kevin were a match maid in heaven, or maybe the looney bin. Yet again, the Durango 100 has lived up to its reputation as the hardest 100 mile mountain bike race around; miles of mud, rain, cold, oh yeah, and 18,000 feet of climbing. Hats off to Kevin for a well earned third place finish in the 100 mile overall, and well, Zack was just happy to be the 8th of the whopping 10 riders out of 30 that survived.

Community Event - Children's Cycling Education at Ironwood Elementary : San Tan Racing conducted it's first assembly on Children's Cycling Education at Phoenix's Ironwood Elementary. Two presentations were given to 2nd and 4th graders, reaching a total of 170 children. Topics covered included cycling safety, health & fitness, and bicycle racing basics. On the behalf of our sponsors we presented 7 copies of MIKE AND THE BIKE, a childrens book and CD about racing bikes. 2007 Cyclo de Mayo : The 1st of what is hoped to be the annual Cyclo de Mayo was a great success for San Tan Racing. Stacy Riseborough got the big score on the day with a 1st place finish in the women's CAT4. Dave Green scored nicely as well with a $250 take in primes and prize money in the Men's CAT3.

2007 Usery Time Trial & Road Race : Another succussful weekdend for STR. David Green pulled off a 3rd place in the Men's CAT3 Time Trial while Marcus Hayward, Zack Heim, and Stacy Riseborough finished a very respectable 4th(Marcus), 5th (Zack), and 10th (Stacy) in each of thier RR categories. Additionaly Chuck Royalty finished 19th in a large Men's Pro 1,2 field.

2007 McDowell Circuit Race : The podium streak continues with Stacy Riseborough hammering to a 3rd place finish in the Women's CAT4 field. A number of other respectable performances were put in by STR. Most importantly we had a blast! A great day of racing for San Tan!

2007 McDowell Meltdown - MBAA Series #1 : Jan 27, 2007 - STR Continues it's tradition of frequenting the podium at MBAA's 1st race of the Arizona State MTB Championship Series at McDowell Mountain Park. Marcus Hayward busts out an impressive first place in the Men's Expert field while Zack Heim followed up with a 4th (his 1st MBAA race as an Expert). Brian Torbit pulled off his first visit to the podium with a 4th place finish in the Men's Begginers class. STR had at least 2 more podium visits in the works but the mechanical gremlins took over. Kevin Riseborough had just taken over the 3rd spot late in the Marathon race, chasing the two leaders when a double flat ended his day. David Green was one his way to victory in the Men's Sport class when a broken chain ended his day. Edwin Escamilla caught the bug when he sheered off his seat post. Edwin still finished his race with no saddle, that's one tough dude and that's Mountain Biking for you! GO SANTAN!

2007 Swiss Crit : San Tan Racing's first road team competition was a great success despite early windstorms, rain, then sunshine, the another windstorm which brought on the SNOW! STR conquered the weather and competition with 4 podiums, including 3 firsts and one 3rd!
